What is the event program?
Cocktails, small bites and hors d’oeuvres will begin as soon as the doors open at 7pm. You will have time to mix and mingle and bid on a wide selection of items via your mobile device. Our most sought-after items will be a part of the live auction later in the evening featuring class art projects and exciting experiences. This will require raising paddles which you will receive upon check-in to bid. Afterwards, party the night away with PS 87’s own band Metal Park, who will perform until the silent bidding and event ends at 11pm. There will be multiple open bars offering wine, beer and our specialty cocktail throughout the evening from 7pm to 11pm.
*Note: We recommended arriving at 7pm to enjoy the delicious food, drinks and socialize with other parents and teachers.
What types of bidding will be offered?
There are two different ways to bid on items: live auction and silent mobile auction.
What is a Live Auction?
This is it. The live auction is the highlight of the evening and generates the bulk of our fundraising for the night. There will be approximately a dozen of hand-picked packages that is expected to generate the most interest and of course, most bids. These usually include exciting experiences and select classroom art projects. Led by an auctioneer, all eyes will be on you as you furiously raise your paddle to bid against other parents for that must have item. No pressure or anything but start working on those arm muscles.
What is a Silent Mobile Auction?
The Silent Mobile Auction website will open for bidding a week before the event via a special link to those who have purchased an event package, auction ticket or absentee bidding ticket. You can review all the auction items available on the website and/or a printed catalog that will be backpacked. We will be using mobile bidding during the Saturday evening event so please remember to bring your cell phones. You will receive text notifications when you are outbid. This is the one event where you are encouraged to get competitive and constantly check your phone! You will receive a notification if you have the winning bid on items from the silent auction.
Items will be available for pick up at the school starting on Monday, March 25, 2019.
